Using GPS2CAD:

Along Cherry Creek

This demo page illustrates how points on an AutoCAD map can be viewed on Aerial Photos and Topo maps - without ever hooking up a GPS unit to the computer:

bullet

A path or series of points can be pre-planned in the office by overlaying them on a digital map

bullet

The coordinates of the points can be created

bullet

The bearing and distance between the points can be calculated

bullet

The points and surrounding area can be viewed on an Aerial Map, Topo Map, and a Tiger Map

Here's how it works:

The Path and Digital Map in AutoCAD:

Begin by starting AutoCAD and bringing up a digital map. These are vector based maps that are projected to true UTM coordinates Digital maps can be obtained here
The Path and Digital Map in AutoCAD: Shown in an ACAD Viewer  If you don't have the ACAD Viewer, it will be installed automatically (it's SAFE and FREE - just follow the prompts) this is COOL!
